Science Club
Introduction
Learning outcomes: LO 1, LO 3, LO 4, LO 5
At the start of the year 2021, another student in my form group and I decided to form a science club in school. The idea of this club was for it to consist of a small number of girls in different promotions who all shared a passion towards the area of science and investigation. Our goal is to promote scientific research as I noticed that this was an aspect lacking in students at San Silvestre. This initiative was very well received by students as the club is now made out of 12 students in secondary who have apported many creative ideas of activities they would like to make happen during the year. This initiative has made us identify our own strengths and develop areas of growth as I am one of the two leaders in charge of the club (LO1). Also, in order to launch this club in school we have had to plan out in a detailed way the objectives of the club and structure a new way of working (LO3). By being part of the club we are learning to stay positive and persevering on the activities we want to plan in order to make the best out of these and for them to unroll as we want them to (LO4). Also, being a leader of the club requires great commitment from part of all the members as we work in a team to brainstorm ideas and reflect upon our mistakes for them to be improved next time (LO5).
